Synthesis of norbornene ester polymers using (ŋ3-substituted allyl) palladium (NHC) complexes as catalyst and the relationship between chemical structures and properties of obtained poly(norbornene esters) were investigated. Norborenen ester monomers were synthesized from the esterification of 5-norbornene-2-methyl alcohol and aromatic carboxylic acids. Polymerization catalyst, (ŋ3-substitued allyl) palldium(NHC) complex, was synthesized according to the literature procedure. 1H-NMR spectroscopy was carried out for determining chemical structure of monomers and polymers. The molecular weight of the polmers were measured by GPC and the thermal properties were analyzed by TGA and DMA. |
