CFRP (Carbon fiber reinforced plastic) is widely used in various fields due to their light weight and excellent properties such as durability and mechanical properties. However, the properties of infusibility and insolubility in organic solvent of cured epoxy resin makes it impossible to recycling of CFRP. The existing CFRP recycling technology uses high temperature pyrolysis methods. These methods are impossible to recycle expensive carbon fiber (CF) and have an environmental pollution problem. For that reason, various CFRP recycling methods have been reported, but they have limitations in the degradation of recovered CF properties, high temperature and high pressure processes. In this study, we have succeeded in chemical recycling of CFRP using aqueous solution instead of the organic solvent at mild condition (atmospheric pressure) in the decomposition process of CFRP. We were able to recover high quality carbon fiber and recycle the decomposed epoxy resin. |
