제목 | Novel thermo-sensitive poly(acrylamides) and their properties. |
초록 | New N-substituted acrylamide monomers (DPAA and NDPA) having benzene ring and long alkyl chains were synthesized by reacting acryloyl chloride and 4-(4-acryloylaminophenyl)butyric acid with 4-dodecylaniline in the presence of EDC, a dehydrating agent. The monomers were observed to show a smectic texture by optical polarizing microscopy. The resulting homopolymer and the copolymers (DPAA/NIPAM and NDPA/NIPAM) with weight average molecular weights of 5,000~85,000 were prepared by a radical chain polymerization. The polymers exhibited a sol-gel phase transition behavior with the change of temperature in hydrophobic solvents such as benzene and toluene. The phase transition temperature was dependent not only on the composition ratio of the new monomer in the copolymer but also on the kind of solvent. The temperature dependent sol-gel transition behavior was confirmed by dynamic light scattering. Figure 1. Structure of new N-substituted acrylamide monomers. Figure 2.
