An oxygen gas sensor system using surface plasmon resonance was constructed. The mechanism related to the performance of the system where the hemin is used as a selective oxygen sensing material is investigated. Au and hemin layer, whose thicknesses are about 40 nm and 20 nm, are deposited on the glass. The air pressures, which are 772 Torr, 583 Torr, 385 Torr, 188 Torr and 9 Torr corresponding to the ratio of 20%, 15%, 10%, 5%, 0.2% of O2 pressure in the vacuum chamber was quantitatively selected. It is proved that the coordination bonding between the oxygen and the hemin largely depends on the oxygen partial pressure. Especially, the dielectric constant and the thickness of hemin layer can be attributed into the number of the coordination bonding. The resonance angles are varied since the thickness of the hemin layer and dielectric constant alters as increasing the coordination bonding with the oxygen. As a result, the minimum point of resonance curve is shifted to about 0.38 degree. |
