A spin-exchnage-path-controlled Monte Carlo (MC) model is proposed to explore the densification behavior of solid-pore systems during final stage of solid-state sintering. Two-dimensional pore array on a grain boundary are utilized as an input for the proposed MC algorithm. In the model, grain boundary diffusion of vacancy pixels is only allowed, and individual isolated pores are set to evolve by its free surface diffusion and evaporation of pixels on to the contacting grain boundary. It is found out that the pore shrinkage follows d(R3) ~ t as previous theories have predicted, but the evolution and interaction between pores in the array make the slope of the linear dependence of the densification change. |
