제목 | Polymer light emitting devices : current status and device physics to improve the performance |
초록 | Light emitting polymers (LEPs) have great potential as materials for full-color flat panel display devices due to the easiness of solution processing, simple device structure, and existence of low-cost patterning methods. At the emerging commercial market of organic light emitting devices (OLED), however, devices using LEP have been shown the limitation of lower efficiency and reduced lifetime compared to the ones using small molecular materials. In order to improve the performance of polymer light emitting device (PLED), understanding the governing physics of device structure as well as the continued research on the material chemistry are inevitable. Here, we have introduced the current status of PLED and requirement for the commercial application toward full color display device. Moreover, structural evolution of PLED which helps further improvement of the lifetime and efficiency was illustrated with an appropriate physical mechanism. As competitive full color patterning methods of LEP for large-scale display, principles and requirement of ink-jet printing and laser induced thermal imaging (LITI) method will be introduced. |
