With the increasing interest in the human aging, longevity and health, the number of orthopedic surgeries increases and orthopedic surgical equipment such as suture anchor is developing accordingly. Suture, metal and biocomposite implants are used as material of suture anchor. Among those materials, biodegradable polymer have advantages that it has superior bone regeneration effect, fast absorbing to bone and less irritating than metal ones. Therefore, we studied biodegradable polymer polymerization for developing biocomposite suture anchor. In this study, the biocomposite anchors are made of bio-raw material such as L-lactide, D-lactide and glycolide. Some parameters such as concentration of additives, reaction temperature and time are optimized to produce biodegradable polymer having strength similar to commercial product of PURAC. And then, viscosity, thermal and chemical properties of produced biodegradable polymer are analyzed through viscometer, DSC, NMR and FT-IR. |
