Photoluminescence of Ag@Polydiacetylene Shell Hybrid Nanoparticles with Different Ag Shapes |

Polydiacetylene (PDA) is a conjugated polymer which consists of blue-to-red color transition as well as non-fluorescence to fluorescence characteristic. In this study, Ag core/polydiacetylene shell hybrid nanoparticles are fabricated into spherical and cubic shape, respectively. The formation of the core-shell was analyzed using high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM). As a result, the range of core-shell size was from 30 nm to 60 nm while the thickness of PDA shell turned out to be approximately 5 nm. Correlated confocal/atomic force microscopy has also been used to obtain photoluminescence (PL) spectra of isolated single core-shell nanoparticles. Compared to spherical core-shell, the cubic shaped ones evidently contained much stronger fluorescent signal. It is believed that the lightning rod at the edge of the cubic core-shell ultimately enhanced the fluorescence signal of PDA surrounded. |
