In previous studies, we have reported novel electroactive polymer actuators employing fluoropolymers grafted with polystyrene sulfonate, which were of several times larger bending performance compared to typical Nafion-based actuators. Herein, we present the material parameters enhancing electromechanical performance efficiency of the actuators. We observed that ion-exchange capacity of ionomer and structure of fluoropolymer backbone are dominant factors manipulating ionic conductivity of ionomers and quality of surface electrode, which contributed to the enhancement of performance efficiency of the actuators.
