Bridge polysilsesquioxanes (BPS) are family of hybrid organic-inorganic materials prepared by sol-gel processing of monomers that contain a variable organic bridging group and two or more trifunctional silyl groups. BPS provide an opportunity to modulate bulk properties such as porosity, refractive index, optical clarity, chemical resistance and dielectric constant because the organic group remains an integral component of the material. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) have attracted increasing because of their excellent stiffness, strength, thermal and electrical properties. In this study, the surface of MWNTs was modified with ethylenediamine by covalent bonding. We have prepared hybrid BPS/MWNT nanocomposite of amino-functionalized MWNTs (MWNT-NH3+) through ionic interaction between positively charge MWNT-NH3+ and negatively charged BPS nanoparticles. The properties of the hybrid nanocomposties (BPS/MWNTs) were characterized by various analytical tools. |
