We measured three-phase equilibria of gas hydrate for ternary C2H6 + NaCl + water and C3H8 + NaCl + water mixtures of two different NaCl concentrations (3 wt% and 10 wt%) in silica gel pores with nominal diameters of 6.0, 15.0, and 30.0 nm. These experimental results were compared with the calculated results based on van der Waals and Platteeuw model. A correction term for the capillary effect and a Pitzer model for electrolyte solutions were adopted to calculate the activity of water within silica gel pores. At a specified temperature, three-phase (H-Lw-V) equilibrium curves of pore hydrates were shifted to higher pressure regions depending on pore size and NaCl concentrations. The calculation values were in good agreement with the experimental ones. From 13C NMR spectra, it was confirmed that silica gel pores and salinity have no effect on the structures of C2H6 and C3H8 Hydrates. |
