Performance Enhancement of Organic Solar Cells by Energy Level Matching of Three Photon-Harvesting Layers |
초록 |
An approach to increase light absorption efficiency of organic solar cells is the use of multilayered photoactive-materials. Here, we demonstrate a method to enhance both the open-circuit voltage(Voc) and short-circuit current density(Jsc) of the device by matching the energy levels of three photon-harvesting layers with different absorption spectra. We used pentacene, phthalocyanine, C70 as the photon-harvesting materials so that the highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO) levels of the materials form a cascade energy band structure and the band offsets at all interfaces in the photoactive layer are large. The enhancement of the Voc is ascribed to the large energy difference between the HOMO level of the phthalocyaine and LUMO level of C70. The Jsc improvement results from the contribution of additionally-generated exctions in the phthalocyanine layer to the photocurent. |
