제목 Preparation and adhesive properties of engineered biopolymer glue
초록 The toxicity, low adhesive strength, flexibility and cost of the currently employed glue demands an alternative. We studied that a polymer pair composed of pectin and gelatin promptly forms a gel. Pectin were employed to prepare N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) activated derivatives. This NHS-activated pectin could form a gel with gelatin in an aqueous solution within a short time, comparable to other glues. The bonding strength of NHS-Pectin-Gelatin (NHS-PG) glue was higher than that of other samples. These bondings strongly suggest that this combination of NHS-PG glue is very promising as a surgical adhesive and may possibly replace fbrin glues prepared from human blood components. Synthesis of glue was determined by using 1H NMR and FT-IR. For evaluating gel adhesive strength, Tensile strength of the wood specimen was carried out to assess the effectiveness of the NHS-PG glue in comparison with other natural adhesives and cyanoacrylate.
