초록 | This study was carried out to clarify the cause of 'Paint A' glass flake paint crack, which occurred in a wide scale on the upper deck of FPSO. Comparative evaluation of the glass flake paint material of 'Paint A' and 'Paint B' was carried out in terms of cracking resistance for the FPSO upper deck coating system. The 'Paint A' glass flake paint material, newly developed for winter season application in Korea was found to suffer significant initial curing shrinkage by fast dry and to have very low elongation or flexibility, inducing early cracking failure and thereby peeling-off problem of the paint film on the upper deck of FPSO. 'Paint B' glass flake paint material having quite low initial curing shrinkage and higher elongation could be a successful alternative instead of 'Paint A' for the concerned area of FPSO. |
