제목 Stimuli-triggered Self-assembly of Fusion Proteins for Biomedical Nanotechnology
초록 Genetically engineered fusion proteins with stimuli-responsiveness have been of great interest as smart biopolymers for biomedical nanotechnology applications because they undergo phase transition as a function of stimuli. Since 2010, we have developed a variety of thermally responsive elastin-based polypeptides (EBPs) and their fusion proteins with biologically active domains as well as structural proteins. We report herein that diblock and triblock copolymers of the EBP fusion proteins formed temperature-triggered core-shell micellar structures with multivalent bioactive domains and physically crosslinked hydrogels, which exhibit multiple responsiveness against specific ligands as well as unique mechanical property such as resilience and elasticity. The stimuli-responsive fusion protein-based biopolymers as advanced functional materials would have huge impact on drug delivery system, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, biosensing and bioimaging.
