There have been numerous publications on preparation of oligomeric silsesquioxanes that could be further polymerized to form films and materials in differernt forms. However, examples of spheres made of silsesquioxane are rare. Methylsilsesquioxane and phenylsilsesquioxane are the most representative examples. In our laboratories, prepartion of silsesquioxanes with organized structures and functions have been investigated. One of the materials we have been interested in is spheres with different diameters but narrow size distributions. In this presentation, we are describing preparation of silsesquioxane spheres designed to abosrb UV lights of different wavelengths. Some of these spheres will find application in cosmetics. |
