제목 Development of Overcoating Technique of Plastic Optical Fiber
초록 Plastic optical fiber (POF) is a fiber-type optical waveguide which can transmit optical signals up to several hundred Mbps. When it is incorporated into woven fabrics, the clothes made from them can be used in smart wear for health monitoring. However, since many scratches are applied to POF during weaving, it is required to protect it before fabric manufacturing. In this study, we investigated how to overcoat POF using three different type of coating agents, which are commercially available. In terms of interfacial adhesion to POF and clarity, acrylate-type coating agent shows best results, but toluene used for diluents dissolves PMMA core and weakens POF.
