Polymer nanocomposites including nanofilllers, especially carbon nanotubes, have dramatically enhanced properties. Carbon nanotubes provide extraordinary mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties relying on their extremely small size and large aspect ratio. By incorporation of carbon nanotubes in polymer matrix, nanocomposites demonstrate optical transparency, high thermal and electrical conductivity, and mechanical flexibility. Here, we fabricated polystyrene/muli-walled carbon nanotube composites by noncovalent grafting using end-functionalized polystyrene. The end-functionalized polystyrene was used for dispersant to enhance the dispersibility of carbon nanotubes in polymer matrix. The nanocomposites were fabricated through simple solution mixing process and their optical, electrical, and mechanical properties were investigated. |
