In recent years, there has been a great deal of research interest in porous materials including membranes, optical waveguides and micro sieve, etc. Especially, porous polymeric materials have large surfaces, light weight, thermal and electrical insulated properties. With these considerable potential, they can be utilized as catalytic supports, filters, insulators and so on. Here, we introduce a simple and convenient method to fabricate ordered porous structures by applying humid air to a polymer solution. Water droplets condensed from humid air spontaneously pack into hexagonal array on polymer solution. The size of the pores is easily controllable by adjusting various processing parameters such as humidity or flow rate of applied air and the polymer concentration. The present method produces hexagonally packed porous elastomer/MWNT films which possess desirable flexibility and mechanical properties. |
