The development of semiconducting micro/nanostructures with enhanced light absorption capability is critical for the high-performance optoelectronic devices including photodetectors, light-emitting diodes, and solar cells. The design of hierarchically designed nano/micro structures is one of strategies for the efficient light absorption and management. In this study, we develop an omnidirectional UV/Visible photodetector which has a broad absorption spectral range of 380 to 1100 nm based on hierarchical heterostructures of n-type ZnO nanowires on honeycomb-structured p-type silicon membranes. The omnidirectional light absorption of hierarchical nanowire/honeycomb structure is demonstrated by UV-Vis-NIR analysis with variable angle specular reflectance accessory (VASRA). Furthermore, we show flexible photodetectors by attaching a free-standing silicon membrane onto a flexible polyimide substrate. |
