Electrospinning of PAN dissolved in dimethyl formamide solutions is preformed with various electrospinning conditions, such as 5~20 kV apply voltage, 7.5~15 wt.% PAN concentration, and 10~15 cm of TCD. The nanofibers are stabilized by oxidation at 250°C for 1 h, and then subsequently carbonized at 1000°C for 1 h. The surface characteristics of the nanofibers before and after oxidation and carbonization are studied by FT-IR, XPS and XRD. The resultant diameter distribution of the nanofibers is study by SEM and AFM. The electrochemical behaviors of the nanofiber-based electrode are also observed by cyclic voltammetry and ac impedance tests. From the results, the diameter of electrospinning nanofibers is predominantly influenced on the concentration of spinning solution. The average diameter of the fibers is decreased with increasing the polymer concentration up to 10 wt.%. |
