제목 Synergistic therapeutic effect of drug and nitric oxide release in drug-eluting balloon system
초록 Drug-eluting balloons (DEBs) have some limitations due to their low drug delivery capability to the disease site and drug loss during transition time. To overcome these limitations, we introduced multilayer coated balloon catheter, composed of PVP/Liposome/PVP. Especially, maximized encapsulation of Everolimus (EVL) into liposome facilitates drug delivery and sustained release to the targeted lesions during inflation time. And, the lipids containing disulfide bond could continuously release nitric oxide (NO) reacted with NO donor in the body, which inhibit smooth muscle cell proliferation and facilitate endothelial cell migration. Moreover, with NO-releasing lipid, we can expect the synergistic therapeutic effect with reducing the amount of drug. The multilayer coating system with drug-loaded and NO-releasing liposome is expected as an advanced DEB platform for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
