Sepsis as a life-threatening condition caused by a bacterial infection, which associated with high mortality, because pathogen spread quickly throughout the body by bloodstream. Therefore, rapid diagnosis is necessary to properly manage sepsis in the early stages of infection. Staphylococcus aureus as a virulent pathogen in human, which is one of the main cause of the sepsis disease. culture-based detection technique is a major technique in many clinical setting, however it required several days. It is highly required effective control technology of Staphylococcus aureus associated with sepsis in blood for suitable treatment of the patient. Herein, we developed the rapid and simple capturing technique of S. aureus in blood using peptidoglycan binding proteins –modified magnetic nanoprobes (PGBP-MNPs). PGBPs are specifically bound with a peptidoglycan layer of bacterium and has high selectivity. This new PGBP-MNPs can be applied for rapid and sensitive bacterial diagnosis in sepsis. |
