Purification of Carbon Nanopowders & Diamond Nanopowdersin Polyphosphoric acid/Phosphorous Pentoxide |

Although expected various properties and applications of carbon nanopowders (CNPs) and diamond nanopowders (DNPs) are not largely introduced, DNPs and CNPs are worthwhile to investigate the properties stemming from the nano-scale spherical structure. Thus, we tried to chemically refining the CNPs and DNPs in polyphosphoric acid (PPA)/phosphorous pentoxide (P2O5) to remove impurities. On the basis of Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Elemental analysis (EA), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the results showed that CNPs and DNPs were well purified in PPA/P2O5. The purified CNPs and DNPs will be useful for nanoscale additives. In addition, they can be further modified for application-specific purposes |
