제목 Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization of Methyl Methacrylate from the Surface of Functionalized Diamond Nanopowders
초록 Our previous work on the modification of diamond nanopowders (DNP) with 4-ethylbenzoic acid (EBA) to afford 4-ethylbenzoyl-functionalized DNP (EBA-g-DNP) was successfully studied. Here, the bromination of EBA-g-DNP using N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) was conducted to obtain α-brominated EBA-g-DNP (BrEBA-g-DNP), which can be used as atom-transfer radical polymerizations (ATRP) initiator for methyl methacrylate (MMA). The structure of resultant BrEBA-g-DNP has been identified with NMR, IR and EDAX. MMA was polymerized in the presence of BrEBA-g-DNP in ATRP condition in anhydrous toluene. The resultant PMMA grafted DNP (PMMA-g-DNP) was characterized by using NMR, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, DMA, GPC, TGA and etc.
