The dendritic building blocks with focal azobenzene moiety self-organize in organic media as well as in an aqueous phase. In an aqueous phase, dendron forms stable vesicle. The mixture solution of azo-dendron, amide dendron with ethylene amine and poly (acrylic acid) self-organize into vesicle. The average diameter of the vesicles from dendrons measured by using dynamic light scattering (DLS). Vesicular structures were confirmed by TEM and gel filtration. These vesicles showed photo and pH responsive release behavior of calcein. In organic media, dendron forms gel which shows fibrous morphology with lamellar structure in dry state. Lamellar structures were confirmed by TEM and XRD. This system has drug storage capacity and the property of stimuli-responsive controlled release. We expect that it has potential for applications in drug delivery. |
