제목 Characterization on mechanical properties of PPS fiber according to melt viscosity and spinning conditions
초록 Poly(phenylene sulfide)(PPS) resin, known as a super engineering polymer, has high flame retardancy compared with general purpose resin and has excellent chemical resistance. Especially, the bag filter composed of PPS fiber is applied to dust collecting facilities of incinerator. Materials used as a bag filter need high mechanical properties as well as high heat resistance. Generally, the higher the melt viscosity(MV) of the polymer, the greater the mechanical strength of the final product. However, when the PPS was spun as a fiber, its strength is not proportional to the MV increase. In this study, the mechanical properties of PPS fiber according to the MV and spinning conditions of the PPS resin were investigated, DSC and TGA analysis were conducted to verify the relationship between the crystallinity, thermal stability, and mechanical properties of the fiber. The effect of viscosity and spinning condition of the PPS resin on fiber spinning is examined.
