SERS is one of the most important spectroscopies inherently originated from the SPR of metal nanostructures. Compare to conventional Raman spectroscopy, SERS has ultrasensitivity, excellent selectivity, rapid detection capability, high signal-to-noise ratio, non-photobleaching features and its use of single photoexcitation. In this study, we present the synthesis of SERS-active gold nanochains (AuNCs) as a potential theranostic system for multiplex detection and photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancer. Raman reporter and photosensitizers were conjugated onto AuNCs for Raman, fluorescence, Bio-TEM detection and PDT action. The optical property and morphology of AuNCs were evaluated. We also investigated their biocompatibility, cellular localization property, and phototoxicity against HeLa cells. |
