Surface modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) through Radical Polymerization for the Preparation of Poly(methyl methacrylate)/ MWCNTs composites |
초록 |
Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were oxided with inorganic acid. The modification conditons for functionalized nanotubes(f-CNTs) were optimized to introduce hydroxyl groups on their surfaces. The hydroxyl functionalized MWCNTs were reacted with a coupling agent such as 3-methacryloxy propyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS) to introduce free radical polymerizable methacrylate groups. The f-CNTs and the reaction product of f-CNTs and MPTMS (m-CNTs) were characterized by Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and Scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The results indicate attachment of organofunctional moieties on the surface of MWCNTs and applicability as filler for Poly(methyl methacrylate)/MWCNTs composites. |
