A study on thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of polymer/graphite composites. |

Recently, polymer composites have become a great candidate for heat dissipation materials in electronic applications. Most polymers were restricted for using as heat dissipation materials due to their low thermal conductivity. One approach to enhancing the thermal conductivity of polymers is to add suitable fillers that possess high thermal conductivity. Polymer/graphite composites were prepared using twin-screw extruder. Thermal conductivity of these composites was evaluated by laser flash method. Morphology was determined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an optical microscope (OM). Mechanical properties of polymer composites were also measured to correlate with thermal conductivity. Thermal conductivity increases as the content of fillers increases according to expected trends. |
