Radiopaque & Biodegradable Polymeric Microparticle for Transarterial Chemoembolization |
초록 |
Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) is one of methods for treating hepatocellular carcinoma, which occludes the hepatic artery with micro-beads or viscous oils mixed with anticancer drugs. TACE is surgical operation-free method, induces less pain and demands short treatment time. The embolic materials, which designate matters used for TACE, should exhibit several characteristics such as x-ray visibility for operational convenience, biodegradability for repetitive injection, and mechanical strength enough to endure blood stream. In this research, we formulated well-calibrated micro-sized particle with FDA-approved biodegradable polymer and the radiopacity was given to microparticle during the particle formation for convenience and safety of treatment. The particle size was analyzed with optical microscope and the content of radiopaque substituent was determined by 1H NMR. In conclusion, we confirmed the potential of this biodegradable polymeric bead for more effective cancer therapy. |
