제목 The compatible intermolecular interaction for the relationship between liquid-liquid equilibria and swelling behaviors of nanometer-sized hydrogel particles for poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) in mixed solvent
초록 The influence of volume phase transition on swelling behavior was investigated based on the thermodynamic model of swelling phenomena. The ultimate goal in this present study when applying a swelling model using the parameters obtained from corresponding polymer solutions to real systems is to interconvert with the phase equilibria. The phase diagram for a ternary system of water(1)–N,N-dimethylformaide(2)–Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(3) was examine by thermos-optical analysis. Nanometer-sized N-isopropylacrylamide gel particles were prepared by precipitation polymerization, and their swelling behaviors were determined using photon correlation spectroscopy. For model calculations, the lattice based model was employed to determine interchange energy parameters for the liquid-liquid equilibrium of linear PNIPA in a water-DMF mixed solvent system. And the swelling equilibria of the NIPA gel in water-DMF system were then calculated using the pre-determined interchange energy parameters.
