A new approach has been developed to achieve the homogeneous nanocomposites of gold nanoparticles containing polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) and polystyrene through physical interactions. In this study, the gold nanoparticles having POSS (Au-POSS) were prepared through the concept of standard Brust-Schiffrin methodology. The gold nanoparticles stabilized by 3-mercaptopropylheptaphenyl POSS were synthesized by reducing HAuCl4/4H2O with NaBH4 in a two-phase system. The hybrid nanocomposites of Au-POSS and polystyrene were synthesized by utilizing aromatic interactions as physical interactions between Au-POSS and polystyrene. The composition, structure, thermal property and surface morphology of hybrid nanocomposites were studied by UV-vis spectrophotometer, EDX, SEM, AFM, 1H-NMR, TGA, and DSC. |
