Contamination of heavy metals and radioactive materials in air, soil and water is a serious problem and it is a growing threat to humanity and the environment. There are many sources of pollutants such as the natural gas, paper, plastic, coal, construction, dye industry and power plants. In this study, an adsorbent for the removal of contaminants in water was prepared using polypropylene nonwoven fabric (PP). In order to increase the adsorption capacity of the PP, a substance having a functional group such as an acrylic acid (AAc) was simply grafted through electron beam irradiation. Also the basic properties and adsorption characteristics of polypropylene grafted with acrylic acid (PP-g-AAc) were confirmed using various analyzes. |
