We successfully synthesized hollow structured mesoporous silica nanospheres using charged polymer templates. First, charged monodispersed PS nanospheres were synthesized by soap-free emulsion polymerization. Their sizes were controllable by adjusting the amount of comonomer [2-(methacyloxy)ethyl] trimethyl ammonium chloride, MOTAC. This variety of sizes enabled us to synthesize silica nanospheres through cooperative self-assembly between TEOS, a silica precursor, and CTAB, a pore structure agent. Subsequently, these nanospheres were calcined for removing polymer template and surfactant. After this procedure, we were able to produce hollow structured silica nanoparticles in various sizes. |
