An amphiphilic graft copolymer, PVC-g-P4VP (Poly(vinyl chloride)-g-Poly(4-vinyl pyridine), is synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization and ratio of monomers is characterized with NMR, 65:35 wt%. Silver bromide (AgBr) nanoparticles are prepared with PVC-g-P4VP as template and the size of silver halide particles is about 10~50nm which is characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and XRD. According to FT-Raman and XPS results, the surface of AgBr nanoparticles is more weakly positively charged due to the interaction between the surface and NO3- ions which is originated by introducing of ionic liquid, i.e. 1-methyl-3-octylimidazolium nitrate (MOIM+NO3-). When the AgBr nanoparticles are introduced to olefin/paraffin separation membrane, the membrane shows highly stable performances, i.e. a mixed gas selectivity of 6 and a permeance of 5.7 GPU, due to the interactions of positively charged AgBr with the C=C bond of olefin molecules. |
