The effect of the grade, the content, and the particle diameter on the thermal conductivity of nylon filled with graphite and graphene were studied. The results show an increase of thermal conductivity of nylon/graphite composite with increase of graphite content. The thermal conductivity of the composite filled with a small amount (1 phr) of graphene was larger than that of the nylon/graphite composite. At the same volume content, the thermal conductivity of the former was twice that of the latter. The surface area and density of graphene also affected the thermal conductivity of nylon composites. We also review the rheological, mechanical, and thermal properties of these composites, and how each of these composite properties is dependent upon the intrinsic properties of graphene-based materials and their state of dispersion in the matrix. |
