제목 Electrochemical analysis of methanol electro-oxidation
초록 Methanol has been considered as a promising fuel for direct methanol fuel cell as portable devices. However, some remaining unclear issues regarding the cyclic voltammetry (CV) impede the catalyst evaluation and interpretation. Here, we present further understanding of methanol electro-oxidation CV. By CV and COad electro-oxidation analysis, the origin of backward oxidation peak (Ib) is not related to the residual intermediate oxidation. By extension, the origin of CV hysteresis is revealed by the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Different rate determining step sequence (methanol dehydration and OH adsorption by water dissociation) induce different Pt surface coverage and leads to the hysteresis.
