제목 Microencapsulation of Polymer Coated Titanium Oxide Pigment Particles for Electrophoretic Display
초록 The microcapsule-type electrophoretic display consists of millions of tiny microcapsules, each one containing charged pigment particles that react to an external electric field to form an image. Optical contrast is achieved by moving pigment particles in a dyed medium. The pigment backscatters light when it is bought near the viewer, and the dye absorbs light when the pigment is drawn away form the viewer. To realize the microcapsule-type electrophoretic displays, the individual pigment particles should be dispersed in the encapsulated dielectric fluid. Therefore, the microencapsulation process is the one of the most important key processes to fabricate the microcapsule-type electrophoretic display.
Noble microcapsules containing pigment microparticles which were coated with polymeric materials enabling adsorb the charge control agent were prepared for an electrophoretic display. Scanning electron microscopy, thermal analysis, and spectroscopic analysis have been used to determine shapes, size and morphologies of the microparticles and microcapsules.
