제목 Surface Modification of Fumed Silica and Characterization of Polypropylene/Fumed Silica Nanocomposites
초록 In order to improve the wettability and dispersibility in the polymer matrix, surface of fumed silica was modified to hydrophobicity, and it was indicated by FT-IR and contact angle measurement that their surface were adequately modified
PP nanocomposites filled with fumed silica were prepared via direct melt compounding process with Haake twin roll mixer at various mixing conditions such as filler type and filler content.
The thermal stability of PP nanocomposites increased in TGA, and the results of DSC revealed the nucleation effect of the fillers in polymer matrix. The tensile strength and modulus increased as filler content is increased, and the FE-SEM images showed that the modified fillers were uniformly dispersed into PP matrix and had a good wettability. At high shear rate, PP nanocomposites showed the lower melting viscosity than neat PP.
