Biocompatibility, bioactivity, and easiness to adapt to the shape of bone cavities and defects are some of the reasons of the increasing interest towards calcium phosphate bone cements (CPCs) for application in both medical and dental surgery. A further advantage of CPCs with respect to poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA), the most widely employed material for implant fixation, is the absence of heat development during hardening.In this study, initial setting time and compressive strength of CPCs with various compositions were measured by Gilmore needle test and Universal Testing Machine. The surface morphologies and crystalline phases of bone cements wereanalyzed. |
