Polycystic kidney disease(PKD) is a common genetic disorder that comes with proliferating and enlarging cyst that ultimately leads to loss of kidney function. Since enlarged cyst is the primary factor for limited kidney function, large cyst is surgically removed by deroofing or by sclerosant. Here in our study, we developed novel sclerosant foam for cyst ablation in PKD treatment along with other cystic diseases. This foam can not only target cystic membraneous cells but also crosslink the cystic membrane to prevent refilling by two-photon laser, and by 532 laser-induced photochemical tissue bonding by the action of rose bengal in vitro. Moreover, we introduce a straightforward method for testing sclerosant foam in vitro. With our system, we optimized our foam to 3% polidocanol with glycerol added for greater foam retention time. We believe our foam will provide better ways in ablating cyst not only for PKD patients but also for those who are suffering from various cystic diseases. |
