Acetylation of betulin with acetic anhydride afforded the diacetylbetulin which was reacted with boron iso-propoxide to give 3-acetylbetulin in good yield. Oxidation of this compound with oxalyl chloride and DMSO, followed by further oxidation with NHPI in methanol provided 3-acetylbetulinic acid in good yield. Chlorination of 3-acetylbetulinic acid with oxalyl chloride in benzene yielded the corresponding acyl chloride which was reacted with a variety of fluorinated amines to give fluorinated 3-acetylbetulinic amide derivatives in high yield. Synthetic scope and property of the final compounds will be presented. |
