제목 Curing kinetics, mechanical and thermal properties of endo-dicyclopentadiene; effects of 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene (ENB)
초록 Endo-dicyclopentadiene (endo-DCPD) is a monomer that can be polymerized into polydicyclopentadiene (poly-DCPD) via ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP). The resulting polymer has a cross-linked structure and exhibits outstanding physical and mechanical properties. In this work, endo-DCPD was blended with varying levels of 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene (ENB) as accelerator in presence of the 1st and 2nd generation Grubbs' catalysts. The curing kinetics were evaluated by dynamic differential scanning calorimetry for the blended samples. The poly-DCPD samples were immersed into a good solvent to measure gel fraction as well as degree of swelling. The mechanical and thermal properties of the cured systems were studied by the tensile and dynamic mechanical measurements, and thermal decomposition was evaluated by the thermogravimetric analysis.
