제목 Surface Modification of Sulfur Electrodes via Layer-by-Layer Deposition for the High Capacity Retention in Li-S Batteries
초록 Surface modification of sulfur electrodes using the layer-by-layer (LbL) deposition technique was investigated for the enhanced capacity retention in Li-S batteries. Sulfur is currently regarded as one of the most promising cathode materials for nexgen batteries due to its large energy capacity. However, the capacity of sulfur cathodes, in general, continuously decreases during repeated charge-discharge cycles. In order to address these critical issues, the surfaces of sulfur cathodes were passivated with polyelectrolyte LbL multilayers, which could prevent the polysulfides from dissolving into electrolytes, while lithium ions could easily pass through the layers. The capacity retention of Li-S batteries with multilayer passivation was found to be improve as a function of multilayer thickness.
