제목 하이브리드 폴리머/실리카 가변광감쇠기의 광학적 특성 연구
초록 We made PLC type hybrid polymer/silica variable optical attenuator using IR transparent fluorinated polymer. Hybrid polymer/silica VOA has low operating power due to highly thermo optic effect of fluorinated polymer more than 10 times of silica and a low insertion loss at 1550nm due to fluorinated polymer’s inherent characteristics. And then the manufacturing process for a hybrid polymer/silica VOA is simpler than that for a silica VOA and therefore can lower the cost of fabrication. We fabricated hybrid polymer/silica VOA using fluorinated polymer as core materials and using fluorinated polymer as clad materials for more superior properties, and then coated metal heater on the upper layer. Insertion loss and power attenuation of hybrid polymer/silica VOA were measured.
