제목 PMMA Microspheres Prepared by Dispersion polymerization with a Novel Crosslinkable Macromonomer as a Stabilizer in Non-aqueous Media
초록 A novel crosslinkable bifunctional polyurethane macromonomer was synthesized and applied to the dispersion polymerization of MMA in ethanol. The macromonomer was used not only as a stabilizer but also as a crosslinker. The monodisperse crosslinked PMMA microspheres having the size (Dw) of 5.09 μm and the good uniformity of 1.01 were obtained with 20 wt% macromonomer in ethanol. The morphology of the final particles remains in spherical shape. The molecular weight of the PMMA microspheres synthesized with the crosslinkable macromonomer is substantially higher than that of PVP-stabilized PMMA at the same level of the stabilizer even though the particle size is larger. These results indicate that the macromonomer acts as an effective crosslinking agent and the crosslinked polymer spherical particles could be prepared using this type of macromonomer without altering the surface smoothness and the shape of the particles.
