Effect of calcium chloride on the mechanical properties of polyketone, polyamide 6, and polyamide 6,6 |

To investigate the effect of salt solution on PK, PA6, and PA66, the changes in the mechanical properties were surveyed when three polymers were exposed to various concentration of salt solution at R.T. and 80℃. The young's modulus of three polymers was decreased as time progressed. The most decrement of young’s modulus was observed at PA6 specimen. Also, the decrement scale was reduced as higher concentration and lower temperature. The flexural properties showed the similar tendency with the tensile properties. CaCl2 solutions and water seems to have influence on the mechanical properties of three polymers. Immersion of PA and PA samples were performed in water with different temperatures. The PK immersed in water at room temperature of which weight was increased least among four conditions. The weight of PA immersed in water at 80℃ showed the greatest increase of all. Large amount of water absorbed seems to have plasticized the PA polymers. |
