In recent years, thermoplastic elastomer has received increasing attention for its reusable ability. In this study, polyamide12 (PA12) is blended with the ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM) in the presence of a compatibilizer at various compositions to afford polyamide based thermoplastic elastomer. The mixtures are further irradiated with e-beam by using a 10 MeV electron beam accelerator at 0 and 200 kGy dosage. Various properties of the mixtures such as tensile strength, elongation at break, tensile set and scanning electron microscope (SEM) for both irradiated and unirradiated samples are investigated. Results show that the tensile strength increase with increasing PA12 content and with decreasing irradiation dosage for PA12/EPDM blends, whereas the elongation at break show opposite trend. |
