Preparation and Application of a High Molecular Weight UV-Stabilizer Based on Derivatives of Benzophenone and HALS |

The addition of light stabilizers is most convenient and effective way to combat photo oxidation in polymers. The derivative of benzophenone containing polymerizable group was synthesized reacting 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone with acryloyl chloride. And this monomeric compound(A) was homopolymerized and copolymerized with MMA. The synthesized poymers were investigated as UV-stabilizers. PVC was selected as a target polymeric material to measure the UV-stabilization. The other monomeric compound(B) was synthesized reacting 1,2,2,6,6-pentamethylpiperidinol with methyl methacrylate. The monomeric compound(B) was copymerized with the compound(A) and MMA. The synthesized polymer were also investigated as UV-stabilizers. |
